Standards Writing Team Visual Arts July 2023- Present

  • Analyze data from teachers, leaders, and the school board on the current state standards and resources.

    • Identify emerging trends and advancements in visual arts education, proposing innovative strategies and initiatives to enhance the curriculum and provide students with a competitive edge in the creative industry.

    • Consider and prioritize the needs and concerns of all stakeholders of NC visual arts instruction.

  • Design a new and improved set of objectives with modern recommendations and alignment to other NC core curricula and additional art disciplines such as theatre, dance, music, and technology.

  • Develop a set of state objectives through feedback from the analysis and design phase that is sustainable and inclusive of visual arts instruction for grades K through 12. 

  •  Plan Implementation of new initiatives and standards with NC visual arts staff and students over a multi-year plan.

  •  Evaluate feedback from stakeholders on objectives alignment with core curricula and evaluate implementation with group focus group surveys and written feedback (in process).
